More than Meals
Meals on Wheels is just the beginning
In order for seniors to live healthy, meaningful lives, you have to meet more than just their basic nutritional needs. Information, socialization, transportation, exercise and companionship are all essential components of a healthy, full life.
That’s why CSI provides a wide range of social support services that keep our seniors active and busy. Our two outreach offices service the Lakewood, Jackson, Plumsted, Point Pleasant and non-Toms River shore areas. These outreach services are available to all seniors 60 years of age or older.
Services include:
Information and Assistance—Our specially-trained staff provide information, assistance and referrals regarding programs and services for seniors as well as their caregivers.
Benefits Screening—We can pay house calls to frail and elderly seniors to help them with their benefits paperwork, and link them to other agencies that offer services they may need.
Transportation—Seniors living in Lakewood, Jackson and Point Pleasant can receive medical transportation on a limited basis.
Volunteer Friendly Visitor and Telephone Reassurance—Seniors who feel alone need someone to talk to. Our trained volunteers are there to provide an outlet for social contact, to help isolated seniors stay connected.
Physical Activity—Low-impact physical activities are provided at the Beehive Senior Center.
Language Translation and Interpretation – Spanish only.
Education & Social Recreation – Programs of interest to seniors are presented and discussed. Cards, games and other social activities are planned for you to enjoy.
Nutrition Counseling - Available to Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meal participants with a physicians prescription.
Nutrition Education – Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meal participants receive a monthly menu and newsletter with nutrition information.

The Beehive Senior Center operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Activities include education, social recreation, physical fitness, and physical health. A calendar of monthly activities is available upon request.Each participant has the opportunity to make a donation toward the cost of outreach services. There is no required payment, but a $1.00 donation per service is suggested. The method of payment is strictly confidential. All participant donations are put back into the Support Services operating grant to help further the program.
